Welcome to Dr.  Patel  Monmouth Cardiology Associates

Board-certified cardiologist, Pratik B. Patel, MD, FACC joined Monmouth Cardiology Associates and will practice in the Monroe office and in the near future, a Somerset office. 

He now has almost 19 years of experience practicing cardiology.

A top performer, Dr. Patel graduated Summa Cum Laude and as Salutatorian in his class from Rutgers University with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering. He then earned his Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering and worked in the field for two years before pursuing a medical degree.

Dr. Patel obtained his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ)-New Jersey Medical School (NJMS) and was selected to be a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society.

He completed his internship and residency at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He was awarded Chief resident and served as junior faculty at RWJUH. Dr. Patel also earned the Human and Professionalism Award and has served on the Residency Council Board. He went on to complete fellowships at the University of Pittsburgh in Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology, and Peripheral Vascular Interventions. He was chief fellow for Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology.

Dr. Patel is board-certified in Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Nuclear cardiology, echocardiography, peripheral vascular ultrasound, peripheral interventions, and vascular medicine. He served as a medical executive staff member at Saint Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick for two years and has been a founding member of the transcutaneous aortic valve replacement (TAVR) program at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital since 2012.

Dr. Patel was awarded Top Doctor from New Jersey Monthly magazine multiple times.

He stays up to date with the latest advances in cardiovascular medicine and has contributed to over 25 research publications. 

He has been heavily involved in the teaching of medical students, internal medicine residents, and Cardiology fellows at both Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and Saint Peters University Hospital. He has been honored with multiple teaching awards.

Dr. Pratik Patel specializes in 4 concentrations:

  1. Complex coronary interventions
  2. Peripheral vascular interventions including carotid artery stenting, renal artery stenting, and
  3. Minimally invasive therapies for treatment of structural heart disease including   transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), transcatheter mitral valve repair (MItraClip), closure of patent foramen ovale (PFO) and atrial septal defect (ASD)
  4. Venous disease including placement of IVC filters and retrieval, DVT/pulmonary embolism thrombolysis, and office-based treatment of varicose veins.

His interests outside of medicine includes spending quality time with his wife and 2 daughters and sports especially football, basketball, and golf.
