Mahim Kapoor, MD, graduated magna cum laude from The College of New Jersey with a Bachelors degree in Biology. He achieved his medical degree at Rutgers – New Jersey Medical School, in Newark, New Jersey.  Dr. Kapoor completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Rhode Island Hospital and The Miriam Hospitals in Providence, RI, both affiliates of the Warren Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University. He spent the next year working as a critical care hospitalist gaining valuable experience in critical care medicine and ventilator management, as well as participating as a team leader with the Himalayan Health Exchange, a volunteer effort bringing basic healthcare to underserved regions in remote Himalayan villages.

He returned to New Jersey to complete his fellowship in cardiology at Rutgers- Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in 2008. He was highly regarded during his fellowship training, and was recognized as fellow of the year and chief fellow during the 2014-2015 academic year.

Dr. Kapoor has been involved in a breadth of clinical research. He has presented research at national and regional meetings, authored a book chapter, and published multiple abstracts and manuscripts in peer reviewed journals on including atrial fibrillation, congestive heart failure, peri-operative cardiology, and acute myocardial infarction.

Dr. Kapoor is trained in the most advanced techniques of non-interventional cardiology and cardiac imaging and has achieved proficiency in stress testing echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, cardiac computed tomography, vascular ultrasound, and diagnostic cardiac catheterization.  He plans on completing additional training in imaging relating to structural heart disease interventions. His clinical interests include all aspects of general consultative cardiology, especially disease prevention, advanced heart failure, the psychology of behavior change, and the “mind-body” connection.

Dr. Kapoor is board certified in Internal Medicine (ABIM), Cardiovascular Diseases (ABIM), Echocardiography (NBE), and Nuclear Cardiology (CBNC). He is board eligible in Cardiac Computed Tomography (SCCT), and is pending certification in vascular ultrasound interpretation (RPVI-ARDMS). He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and is pending acceptance to the fellowship of the American College of Cardiology. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, digital photography, and racket sports.
