Protecting Heart Health During Cancer Care
Cancer treatments save lives — but some therapies can affect the heart. Our Cardio-Oncology Program helps patients and survivors receive the care they need, while protecting long-term heart health.
Cardio-Oncology: Protecting Heart Health During Cancer Care
Compassionate, Specialized Care at the Intersection of Heart and Cancer
Monmouth Cardiology’s Cardio-Oncology Program is dedicated to supporting patients who are undergoing cancer treatment or living as cancer survivors. Advances in cancer therapy have greatly improved survival rates, but some treatments can affect the heart. Our team works closely with oncologists to help patients complete their cancer care safely, while protecting long-term cardiovascular health.
Why Cardio-Oncology Matters
Many cancer therapies — including chemotherapy, immunotherapy targeted agents and radiation — can place stress on the heart and circulatory system. Cardio-oncology focuses on:
- Prevention: Identifying patients at risk for heart complications before treatment begins.
- Early Detection: Monitoring heart health throughout cancer therapy.
- Management: Treating cardiovascular side effects quickly and effectively.
- Survivorship Care: Supporting cancer survivors in maintaining lifelong heart health.
Our Services
We provide comprehensive, individualized care for patients at every stage of their cancer journey:
- Baseline heart evaluations before starting cancer therapy, having cancer surgery, Bone Marrow transplant or Stem Cell replacement.
- Ongoing monitoring during chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or radiation.
- Treatment of complications such as heart failure, arrhythmia, hypertension, or vascular conditions
- Long-term follow-up for cancer survivors at risk of late-onset heart disease

You may benefit from a cardio-oncology consultation if you are:
